I’m in the same boat. We’ve been bringing the van to several different mechanics for the past 2 years trying to figure out the cause of the car sometimes not starting. Finally took it to a Nissan dealer who charged $700 to change a sensor, and this didn’t fix the problem. The check engine soon light came on so we found the codes (for free at Auto Zone!) and told the local mechanic. When he hooked it up to his computer, he found that the ECM was full of water and corroded. We’re going on a road trip and need it fixed immediately, and, the van is now 10 yrs old, so there’s no time to fight with a dealer over having them repair it, so it looks like I’m out the $. The mechanic is charging $1200, but at least I’m giving the money to a small local business rather than Nissan.
