Was helping my GF’s dad replace the front hubs on their old Quest. Got the right side that was noisy, and were going to try to get the left one but couldn’t get the bottom rear mounting bolt out–the socket just kept slipping off. The socket doesn’t want to go on quite straight because of the axle. Tried soaking with PB Blaster but no luck. Any ideas? Fortunately the left side doesn’t seem to be bad yet; we were just going to try replacing it before it does go.
the one of the 4 mounting bolts?
did you turn the wheel & then used a socket extension on the breaker bar/ratchet?
if the 17mm bolt head is rounded off, there are some special sockets out there that will grip the sides of the bolt, not just at the corners…
sears will be your best bet unless someone has a matco/snap-on access to those special sockets
Yeah, tried to turn the wheel both directions, but couldn’t get a good angle.
