After a long highway speed drive of at least 80 to 100 miles in length, the check engine light comes. If I do nothing, after a few weeks of city driving, the light turns off. Never comes on again until the next long trip. Any ideas?
When the service light comes on,you should go to most auto parts store (Autozone, Advance Auto, etc) and do a free code scan with an OBDII scanner. It will show up with a code and sometimes a description in plain english. Write down that code and go home and google it to find out what it is. Most shops will NOT clear the code for you. If you have to take it to a dealer to get it fix, at least you know what problem you are having going in.
