I was just wondering what everyone’s opinion is of the center folding cupholder tray in the current Quests. I’ve heard arguments for both sides and just curious what you all think.
Would you rather have a stationary console that is more sturdy and has storage room?
Or a fold-down tray that allows you access to the rear part of the van?October 22, 2007 at 5:29 pm #2742
I have a 2004 S and there is no center console. The wife and I love the easy access to the back. It is great if you need to hand things to the kids. I know, it is unsafe to get up in a moving vehicle, but it sure is GREAT.October 30, 2007 at 8:02 pm #2752
I love the fold up cupholders. Like the previous post said it makes its easier to get to the back to tend to the kids. and when you are traveling with just one kid (my 4 year old) he loves to come out the daddy way, rather then to open one of the big doors just for him. We also like that we can put our small cooler between the seats when we go on trips. In short I just having the space available for things other then a cupholder or storage. This van has tons of storage in the dash already. If you need more, then you need less junk.
The world is the place outside your front door.

At first I thought the upscale console would do a better job but gotten used the versatility of the basic one. Easy access to the rear and since I don’t have the DVD player, I can add more stuff in the dash for storage.November 27, 2007 at 7:48 pm #2784
I detest the folding storage tray and ordered the console to install in my 07. The tray is OK as a cup holder but on a bumpy road my stuff bounces off the tray.
I usually carry a few items with me at all times (read 9mm) and need a place that is not as far away as the glove box is. My storage on the dash under the radio holds my iPod and sat radio. The one on the bottom is way too low to access while driving. The one on the left of the steering wheel has my shades and pens. I also have a Blackberry, a PDA and my Nextel for work. There’s also my cigs and extra CD’s so the console will give me the extra room I need for everything.
Geez now that I type this, maybe I DO have too much stuff
It might not be possible but I’d like to try and use the fold down tray between the back seats. Maybe I’ll see if I can fab something up.January 2, 2008 at 4:27 pm #2815
My 04 SE had the mini cup holder flip down. It was OK because we had plenty of storage compartments to hide things. Getting between the front pax to the rear pax seats was really nice. But now our 08 has completely done away with a bunch of the auxiliary compartments (i assume due to the relocation of the instrument cluster). It doesn’t even have a place for sunglasses. So now we’re dealing with the large flip up tray. Sure, I can conceal things under it when it’s up but I cannot get to them easily. I am looking to sacrifice rear access in an attempt to get the full console only because there is no more storage other than the forward center console glove box.
