for about the last year, we noticed the steering becoming notchy in the van. It has not gotten worse, but lately we have noticed the pump whining while its running. Its a 04 Quest SE. Does anyone know if this guys is difficult to change or not. Im pretty handy and do most of the work on our vehicles. This is my first vehicle other than a chevy and certainly my first van. Any advice will be appreciated. I have not got under the van to take a look at it yet, just looking for a heads up.

Before I change the power steering pump, i would make sure that is the problem. The reason I mention this is this model year has had issues with the front lower control arms, ball joints and tie rods. I’m sure they are cheaper to repair than the power steering pump.

I would purchase a service manual or try this website: http://www.nissanhelp.com or http://www.nico.com
