    Hi All,

Our 2004 Nissan Quest used to honk the horn when you hit the lock button on the keyless remote and flashed the blinkers (AKA directionals/turn signals) when we hit the unlock button on the keyless remote. It has stopped doing either one. It still locks/unlocks using the keyless remote, it just doesn’t do the horn honking thing or the flashing blinker thing. Does anyone know where the problem might be? Is it something we MIGHT could fix ourselves?

    Thanks!

Yours may have reset due to an electronic glitch, or you may have inadvertently turned them off. Check your owner’s manual to find the procedure. It may involve holding a button down on the remote while hitting the electric lock button on the door.

The 2008 manual says the following: “Silencing the horn beep feature:
If desired, the horn beep feature can be deactivated
using the keyfob. To deactivate: Press and hold the unlock and lock buttons for at least 2 seconds. The hazard warning lights will flash three times to
confirm that the horn beep feature has been deactivated.
To activate: Press and hold the unlock and lock buttons for at least 2 seconds
once more. The hazard warning lights will flash once and the horn will sound once to confirm that the horn beep feature has been reactivated.
Deactivating the horn beep feature does not silence the horn if the alarm is triggered.”

I imagine the instructions for the 2004 may be slightly different, but are probably similar if not exactly the same. If you have a color screen, the instructions are slightly different.

Use the on-screen menu to change the lock/unlock settings. There is a choice of lights or horn.
