I got a code of P1148 to change out the vent control valve. Just wondering if it is important to change it on this old van with 161,000 miles on it? Will it help the fuel mileage if I change it?

    Thanks!

    Hi 1010Guy,

Cod P1148 is CLOSE LOOP CONTROL. Service manual says the culprit is one of the following: the circuit for the front heated oxygen sensor, the front heated oxygen sensor, or the front heated oxygen sensor heater. There is nothing about a vent control valve.

With that code, the van will not pass its next inspection. I would not consider 161K miles being too much for these vans. Mine has 183,800 miles at the moment and she is still running extremely good.

    Hope it helps.

    Pedro
