1993 - 1998 Nissan Quest

My 93 Quest has a LOUD hum that seems to be right under the center of the floor. It gets louder and softer intermittantly but never goes away completely. I was told it may be the fuel pump, any ideas?

A Quick Test

There's an easy way to find out if it's the fuel pump. With the van turned off, turn the key to the ON position, but don't crank the engine. If it's the fuel pump, you should hear the humming noise without the engine running.

Definitely get it replaced before it strands you on the road somewhere.

Definitely the fuel pump,

Definitely the fuel pump, when they start to go they cavitate and make that humming noise. Replace it before it guves out while your driving.

fuel pump replacement- your experience afterwards

hi, i know my fuel pump is causing the humming noise. but its kinda hard for me to digest spending 200$ for the OEM part for somehting that aint really broken yet. at least my own labor is free...

just wondering if the new OEM ones would really be quiet as opposed to the cheaper aftermarket ones? there are 2 kinds of OEM pumps by the way, which one should i get? what are your experience guys? i have had mixed opinions from mechanics saying replacing it with a new one won't guarantee the humming noise will go.

was also looking at the manual and saw a rubber dampener, could that be the prob instead of the whole assembly?

the TSB also suggests replacing the ECM? whoa!?!

thanks
