HELP - I have had my Quest for 10 years and love the car, but suddenly - without warning, the a/c is putting forth terrible odors! My mechanic did an "AC freshner treatment" that lasted about 3 days - the odor is back - and from what I've been researching, it seems to be a mold problem in the evaporator. I believe my mechanic quoted me a price of $800 or so to remove the evaporator and replace the "box" - but I've been reading enough posts to see that there are some treatments I should try first. Nothing I've read though refers to the '97 Quest specifically. Does this minivan have "in cabin air filters" that I should check? Also, anyone with any experience with any particular air treatment?

I should add, I live in Florida, use A/C year-round and always on recirculate. From what I have read, I understand this might have caused the problem - keeping moisture in the evaporator.

Okay - now I've CAUSED the problem - what's my best hope for fixing it??
