2002 Quest CD player not working

Had my 2002 Quest for 5 years now. With no warning, my CD player stopped working. The first few times, I got an "error" on the radio display. Now when I put a CD in (burned at home or store bought), it goes to the first track like it is going to play, but doesn't start playing and automatically ejects the CD.
Ideas?
