Wiper wash warning Light

My wiper wash warning indicator light is on. I have filled the washer fluid tank, and the wiper wash and wipers work perfectly well. I have checked all fuses and they all intact and none burnt out. I sent it somewhere to check it out and I was told the whole tank needs to be changed, because the tank is bad. It's not leaking and I don’t see how it's gone bad. Has anybody come across this problem and how did they resolve it?
