Playing SAT radio through rear AV system only

I have a 2004 Quest. I am considering adding SAT radio. I do have two questions. If I do add a SAT radio or auxillary input to the head unit, can I play that through the rear AV system only (headphones), like the FM radio or CD? The rear AV controller has an AUX mode. Is this for the SAT radio from the head unit or is this for Auxilary input from the DVD player?

Many thanks,

SAT & DVD are distinct inputs

Once you get the headunit out to plug in the SAT, you will notice that there is a distinct plug just for satellite radio. To get what you want, you will likely need to get the OEM unit that plugs into the headunit. I believe most aftermarket sat tuners will want to use an auxiliary input.

Rear AV

Thanks, I have had the unit out and noticed the plugs. The big question is, can you play the SAT through the rear AV headphones by selecting the AUX mode on the rear panel?

RE: Rear AV

I assume it is the same, but my 04 had the sat/ipod option when I got it. Both play through the rear headphones in the same manner as the radio/dvd with a different audio source up front.

Try using an MP3 player

Try using an MP3 player to test out your aux input. It should work through the aux input and play through the back headphones, but nothing is better than first hand knowledge that it works.
