Wheels look great! Did you

Wheels look great! Did you have a chance to look in there and see how exactly the computer monitors the tire pressure? I thought perhaps Nissan had a widget hooked up to the rims somehow to monitor the tire pressure? Does your tire pressure monitoring still work with the new wheels?

Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

The pressure monitors are located on the base of each wheel stem. The centrifugal force from the wheel spinning causes the battery to engage and then the electronic signal is sent to signal receivers mounted in your car. The only draw back is there is no order to which tire is reading what. So when you see the display on your dash, and one of your tires has low pressure you have to figure out which tire it is. I actually got to watch the Evans Tire manager reset mine so I know which tire goes to which order in the display. Word of caution, if you have an Evan Tire store in your area I would steer clear. Talk about price gouging!

Pressure sensors work

Thanks!

There are sensors mounted at the valve stems. The tire shop moved the sensors to the new wheels. Everything works as before.

oh dude that looks awesome

i thought the G35 wheels were staggered? are the rears wider than the fronts?

GalaxyQuest's picture

Coupe?

Maybe staggered on the coupe? In any case, these are the same width front and rear.

yes they are staggered on the coupe

yes they are staggered on the coupe, i looked it up

so those are from the newer 07 g35 sedan, i have an S 07 quest and really want to get rid of the steelies, how much did they cost (if you don't mind me asking) and where did you get them? i know they are really expensive at the dealer

thanks for the reply!

eBay

eBay. I waited and watched. I was really looking for a set of 17" Maxima wheels, but I also watched the Infinity listings. I liked the look of these better than the Maxima wheels, plus the 7.5" width (instead of 7") is a little nicer with the size tires I wanted to use. $474.20, including shipping & center caps. Another $50 later for proper lugnuts (the new '07 G35 wheels aren't the same taper seat that most of the Nissan wheels seem to be).

do you still have the stock

do you still have the stock alloys to sell or did your Quest come with steelies?

GalaxyQuest's picture

Steel Wheels

I have a base model that came with steelies and wheel covers.

Winter wheels, anyone? The price couldn't be better, but you've got to pick them up in Virginia.

i thought the G35 wheels were staggered? are the rears wider than the fronts?

Nope, same wheels. If you have the "Performance Tire Package" it comes with different size rubber front/rear, but the wheels are the same all the way around.

Looks Really Nice on a Quest.

wait a second!

you have and SL? did it already have alloys (non-steelies)? care to sell them? i know a buyer (me!)

mrbigbri's picture

Yes, my 07 SL came with

Yes, my 07 SL came with factory alloys. They're not that great... but *way* nicer than the steelies with wheel covers.

I was at the dealer the other day and all non SE 07 Quests had the steel wheels. The people in the Nissan marketing department (they put together the build sheets most likely) really need to get a clue.

Nice Quest

I like your Quest with the rims. It looks sweet. If I figure out how to upload pics, I'll post mine.
