Navigation Software

2004+ Nissan Quest

Does anyone have any experience with the newer 6.x version of the navigation software?

We bought a used 2004 SL and it came with version 6.2. Its alright, but I've had a TomTom and the Zenrin software is no where near as robust and user friendly as the TomTom and don't get me started on the lock-out while moving "feature". Couldn't they at least tie it to the pressure sensor in the passenger seat?

Anyway, I'm considering upgrading to the newest 6.6 version that was just released and wanted to find out from other users if there have been any changes to the product besides the maps? I'm going to pose this same question to Zenrin.

Thanks.

Re: Navigation Software

You have the older version of the navigation unit in your Quest. Nissan made some changes to the navigation software I think for 2006MY. I think the graphics are better, and some changes to how you input information.
Anyway, to comment on your plan to upgrade to v6.6, you are ONLY upgrading the map. That will not change the overall functions of your navi. IF there will be separate disc that comes with the new map, that is to upgrade the navi to make it work with the newer map version, but again, it will not change/upgrade the general functionality of your navigation.
For the lockout feature, you cannot blame Nissan. That is for safety feature, and Nissan doesn't want to be sued for a design that could put people in "danger" while the vehicle is moving. You are not alone in complaining about the lockout feature.

Nav Lock Out 'feature'

http://www.kptechnologies.com has a module that can not only press the 'ok' button for the nav but also allow entry while in motion. I still haven't picked it up but i've been considering it. has anyone out there tried this car mod yet?
