Factory hitch receiver on my 08 Quest - Almost ripped off by the dealer

2004+ Nissan Quest

I bought my wife an Galaxy Black 08 just before Christmas time and was surprised when the window sticker showed the factory installed option for a tow hitch receiver, wiring, and converter. I believe this is the first year a hitch has been offered on a Quest. The (not so) funny thing is that when I brought the Quest home, I was about to show her the hitch when ***SURPRISE**** there was no hitch receiver to be found. Needless to say we returned to the dealership with the van the very next day to inform them of our unhappy finding. They told me that it was a known factory mistake and that it has happened many other times. The hitch, wiring, converter, and oh yes! a new bumper were all installed shortly after. It is a different bumper for the hitch models because there is a notch in it around the receiver. For a $600 option, I was not about to let this one slip by.

Factory's Fault, Not Dealer

I know that the trailer package was an option for 2007, I'm not sure about years before that.

But for 2008, less than 4% of all Quests built have the option, so it's just an oversight by the plant, not your dealer's fault (I doubt they check every vehicle for every option listed on the sticker).

Glad they got it fixed for you and good thing you caught it.

When I took delivery of my

When I took delivery of my wifes 05 Quest we were missing the headrest storage bag, cargo storage bin, dvd headphones and rear floor mats. All were on the window sticker about 400 dollars worth of stuff missing. They got us the missing stuff but can you imagine how many people don't read into the window sticker that get shafted. Then we bought an Xterra that was also missing stuff. Floor mats, tow receiver, first aid kit, Same dealer. So as I was waiting for the truck to be prepped I asked the guy washing it what was the deal with the options missing out of both of our vehicles. He told me in confidence that the crooked a$$ salesmen take options out of vehicles to put in there customers new vehicles sort of robbing Peter to pay Paul just to make a sale. These salesman should be beaten to a pulp. It's bad enough we have to watch everything they do as far as hagling the price, now you have to check the window sticker with a fine tooth comb and make sure all the options are in the vehicle. All car salesman and the finance guy in the back room are crooked, Don't trust any of them.
