2004+ Nissan Quest

Just bought a 2008 SE with 2000 miles on it. Got a great deal or else would have just stayed with S trim level.

Didn't want the Odyssey nor Sienna so this was the logical choice.

Just getting used to all the features and lack of...

Doors don't auto lock right?

Shouldn't there be a compass on the rearview mirror?
The catalog states that this is std on the SE.

Sliding doors don't open smoothly, a little stop n go action.

Squeaks and rattles around dashboard at high speeds.

Can't watch DVD on one screen and play video game on other?
On dodge you can watch two different movies. but it's a dodge.

Love the spaciousness and rearview camera, kids love the DVD, folding 2nd row is a plus.

Too bad there is only LATCH for middle seat in 3rd Row. Wanted to put two kids in 3rd row and infant on captain chair.
Can LATCH be retrofitted for 3rd row?

thanks everyone!

Congrats

Congrats on your 08 purchase. There are not a lot of us 08 owners here. I picked up an 08 SE a couple of months ago.

I've really only seen that annoying locking door feature on American-branded autos. I assume you mean the kind that lock when you put the car in drive or reverse?

No! The compass is not standard however, auto-dim with homelink is. To get the compass, you have to anny up $230 for the stand-alone, auto-dim, homelink, compass rear view mirror option. I was confused by this one too as every Nissan I've had since 2000 at least had the compass in the mirror. Go figure? Perhaps they equipped it this way assuming that if you didn't get the Nav, you didn't need anything to tell you you're lost!?!?

The sliding door movement on my 08 does stop-n-go when power is interrupted when starting. That's pretty understandable as it takes all the battery's umph to run the starter. Also I've noticed that gravity will have an effect on the movement when parked on an incline and the van moves slightly.

I wonder if the squeaks and rattles are reasons you got a good deal? JK... We've put 4200 miles on the clock and it's still solid and quiet. Do you drive an a lot of rough roads?

Yeah, that would have been nice to allow different inputs on each screen.

You can always run the 3-point seat belt through the rear car seats on the 3rd row. I was a bit surprised that there weren't 2 sets of LATCH on the 3rd-row. Aside from welding LATCH anchors onto the seat frame, I can't imagine a feasible retrofit.

thanks for the info

Yeah not too many people in here. Do you have another quest forum you go to?

My driveway is slightly inclined, doors seem to have a little lurching due to gravity. To close the door, I have to pull the handle and pull it towards the B pillar for it to close automatically (the odyssey closes auto with just a pull of the handle). Normal? I know I can just push the button but just wondering is this is normal function.

I'm running the seat belts thru the two carseats now. Oh well, that'll have to do for a few more years.

Thanks!

No, I don't know of another

No, I don't know of another forum. There are a lot of Nissan specific forums out there that might have a decently active Quest sub forum. But this is probably about as good as it's gonna get considering the stigma of driving a van and the hard fact that we're a rare breed giving that the Quest only make up 3% of the market segment.

I know what you're talking about with the doors, mine operate the same... you've gotta give it a nudge to get it moving. It annoys me but with 3 available buttons to make it move, I opt to use them instead of the handle.
