Fuel gauge will not show more than half

I Have a 2004 Quest and just replaced the battery the other day. Now the Fuel gauge will not show more than 1/2 a tank. At first it was showing completely empty, then moved up to 1/4. I knew there was more than that, so I filled it up. After I filled the tank the gauge still only shows half.

Any ideas?

it works again

The other day my wife hit a large bump anf the guage started to work again.

I had this happen to my 2k4 Nissan Titan. They will have to replace the float in the gas tank.

On our Titan, it just went. There was no relation to battery change and I suspect it is just coincidence in your case.
