quest 2005 headlights remain on
I recently bought a 2005 quest w/ 7500 miles (like new). it has the day headlights (?canadian) that i like, but i have one problem. in the manual, depressing the parking brake when starting should keep the lights off. any other ideas on getting the lights to turn off (when you're in a running vehicle in the cold it's nice to have just the parking lights on)?

I don't think it's possible. Daytime running lights, by definition, have to be on anytime the vehicle is in motion. As you pointed out, they go out when the parking brake is on but that's about it (short of rewiring it to match the US spec).
