Brake and Battery light 2001

My battery and brake light are coming on when I accelerate and my rpm's get above two. We have replaced the battery on recommendation from autozone. When the new battery was drained had it looked at by another mechanic and the post and cable were replaced. Van now starts but the lights are still coming on. Any ideas, need the van to be safe to drive my two small sons around town.
