1ST SIDE IMPACT CRASH TESTS OF MINIVANS: TOYOTA, HONDA, NISSAN MODELS PERFORM BEST

The IIHS is pretty tough, so getting good marks from them is impressive. Three minivans with standard side airbags — Toyota Sienna, Nissan Quest, and Honda Odyssey — earned the Institute's highest rating of good (side airbags were optional in the 2005 Sienna). The Sienna and Quest earned the added designation of "best pick" for side crash protection.

Bad news for hybrid Nismo-Stern fans, no SIRIUS radio for your Nissan. At least not as a factory option. This week Nissan and XM jointly announced that the car maker would offer XM radio has its factory installed option. Don't get too anxious, they won't be available until the 2008 model year.

Currently buyers have the option of either SIRIUS or XM as a $350 option.

Nissan Concept Van: the Amenio

Nissan Quest News

October 2005

Nissan unviels the concept van, Amenio, at the Tokyo motor show. 6 captains chairs, very plush and even more spacey than the Quest. I like how the front doors and sliding passenger door aren't attached to a pillar, reminds me of our old Element. Then again, closing the doors on that was a PITA! If this goes to market, rumor says: Japan only

Interview. Nissan blames slow sales of
Quest on radicial interior. Most minivan buyers are pretty
conservative; this is a no brainer. I guess it took Nissan awhile to
admit it to themselves.

A very short piece. They seem to think the Quest was designed in France. Funny, I thought it was San Diego.
